Erik Fisher has worked to advance environmental and land use policy in Maryland for the past 25 years. His efforts have helped strengthen rules and increase funding for forest conservation, green infrastructure, and Smart Growth planning throughout the state. Partnership between government, residents, and the private sector that builds trust and accountability is a hallmark of his work.
Erik was appointed to serve as Chair of the state’s Critical Area Commission in 2023. During his tenure, the Commission has expanded its scope to ensure that Maryland's shoreline communities are sustainable, resilient, and accessible for all in the face of rising seas and stronger storms.
When not working to protect Maryland’s beloved bays, he can usually be found somewhere in them!
