Show Your Love for the Wicomico River – Adopt a Creekwatchers Sampling Site!
The year, the Wicomico Environmental Trust proudly continued its Rooms for the Environment initiative, offering lodging for Salisbury University's Seagull Century riders in welcoming local homes. The program, now a beloved tradition, proved once again to be a rewarding experience for both cyclists and hosts, fostering connections that often lead to lasting friendships.
On Saturday, September 28, 2024, cyclists participated in the nationally acclaimed Seagull Century, a bike tour that began and ended on Salisbury University’s campus. Riders chose between scenic 63- and 100-mile routes across Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore. This year, we were thrilled to host 15 cyclists, all of whom appreciated not only the convenience of nearby lodging but also the opportunity to connect with community members.
The proceeds from this program directly support WET's environmental programs, allowing us to continue our work championing a healthy environment for all.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to the hosts who opened their homes and hearts to make this program a success. Their generosity exemplifies community spirit and environmental stewardship. If you’ve participated in the past, we look forward to welcoming you back next year. And if you’re considering joining for the first time, we encourage you to be a part of this wonderful experience!
Stay tuned for registration details for next year’s event, opening in Summer of 2025. Together, we can make an impact, one ride—and one room—at a time.
Thank you for supporting Rooms for the Environment and WET’s efforts to ensure a sustainable future for our community.
