  • Compact Flourescent  Lightbulbs (CFLs) - can be recycled at Home Depot
  • Take your worn-out sports shoes to the Nike Outlet Store in Rehoboth Beach for recycling into other products
  • Eagle Recycling - accepts paper, soft metals, plastic & vinyl, batteries, cardboard, and electronics

Produce Less Waste by Practicing the 3 Rs:*

  • Reduce the amount and toxicity of trash you discard.
  • Reuse containers and products; repair what is broken or give it to someone who can repair it.
  • Recycle as much as possible, which includes buying products with recycled content.
Recycling Locally Household:

  • White Goods: Appliances, refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, and air conditioners, follow the Salisbury City Bulk Pick-up procedures or deposit at the Wic Cty Newland Park Landfill, 410-548-4935. 
  • Clothing, crystal, clay pots, ceramics, mirrors, window glass, heat resistant ovenware, furniture, books, drinking glasses and toys - accepted at Goodwill Retail Store, 410-219-9072 and Salvation Army, 410-749-8146.
  • Household Hazardous Waste Day  (Sep or Oct) - Call 410-548-4935
  • Plastic Grocery Bags - accepted at Acme, Giant, SuperFresh and Food Lion.
  • Packaging peanuts - accepted at the UPS Store on Route 13 across from SU, 410-749-5070 - call first, policy varies.
Electronics:
  • Recycle cell phones, ink cartridges, other small electronics, at U.S. Post Offices
  • Computers and computer parts: 
    •  Wicomico County E-Cycling
    •  Community Resource Bank, 410-659-0625.
  • Inkjet Cartridges: Staples, 2636 N. Salisbury Blvd - Will give you a $3 coupon per acceptable cartridge  (Epson, Canon, and Brother inkjet cartridges cannot be recycled because of the way they are designed.) 
Vehicles and Parts:
  • Vehicle Batteries: Pasco Electric, 1121 S. Salisbury Blvd - Will pay you for them (currently $5 per battery)
  • Automotive parts, copper, aluminum, and brass are accepted at Decker Brothers Recycling, 410-572-5600.
  • Motor Oil and Anti-Freeze are accepted at the Wic Cty Newland Park Landfill, 410-548-4935.
  • Used Tires: passenger cars only, are accepted for a small fee, at Anderson Tire Co., 410-749-5570, and Delaware Tire Center, 410-742-2171.
  • Tire Amnesty Day: April, Wic Cty Newland Park Landfill - Call 410-548-4935
Other Assorted Recycling Opportunities:
  • Window envelopes, brown paper bags, chipped cardboard (cereal boxes, pasta boxes, etc.), non-ferrous metals (aluminum, tin, copper, brass, stainless steel, nickel), vinyl siding, aluminum siding, and lead acid batteries are accepted at Delmarva Recycling - Metals, 410-546-1111.
  • Concrete, brick, some asphalt, and most masonry products are accepted at Modern Industries, 410-742-2851.
