Monitor Water Quality through Creekwatchers
Volunteer to help the Wicomico Creekwatchers effort! This group of volunteers samples water quality and clarity at select sites along the Wicomico River, its tributaries, and local ponds every two weeks from March to November every year. The samples are analyzed by biology students at Salisbury University under the direction of Professor Judith Stribling. The resulting data are evaluated to document long-term trends in the health of our waterways, highlight trouble spots, and measure the effects of pollution-reduction efforts and of weather. In addition to volunteers to sample on a regular basis, we need volunteers to provide backup for samplers who have to miss their regular sampling, and volunteers to help WET with logistical support behind the scenes--transporting samples or clean empty sample bottles, helping with the annual kickoff party, etc.
For further information or to volunteer in any of these capacities, contact Deborah Finkbeiner at firstname.lastname@example.org or complete form.
